
Nal’ibali (isiXhosa for “here’s the story”) is a national reading-for-enjoyment campaign. It seeks to spark and embed a culture of reading in children from birth to 12 years of age, across South Africa, through cultivating, enticing reading content in all South African languages.
Project brief: Layout and design of the 16-page A3 bilingual newspaper supplement. To also design any ad hoc adverts, posters, social media banners and marketing material needed.Nal’ibali bilingual newspaper supplement design and layout into 11 official SA languages every two weeks, with stories, literacy activities, reading and reading club tips and support. Each supplement contains two cut-out-and-keep stories for children to cut out and read together with their caregivers. Templates for seamless language swaps, submitted files for printing and online publishing, and supplied print-ready PDFs and low-res versions for the client's website.
